چکیده
The magnetic properties of isolated TbPc(2) molecules supported on a Cu(100) surface are investigated by X-ray magnetic circular dichroism at 8 K in magnetic fields up to 5 T. The crystal field and magnetic properties of single molecules are found to be robust upon adsorption on a metal substrate. The Tb magnetic moment has Ising-like magnetization; XMCD spectra combined with multiplet calculations show that the saturation orbital and spin magnetic moment values reach 3 and 6 mu(B), respectively.

Electronic structure of surface-supported bis(phthalocyaninato) terbium(III) single molecular magnets.
The electronic structure of isolated bis(phthalocyaninato) terbium(III) molecules, a novel single-molecular-magnet (SMM), supported on the Cu(111) surface has been characterized by density functional theory and scanning tunneling spectroscopy. These studies reveal that the interaction with the metal surface preserves both the molecular structure and the large spin magnetic moment of the metal c...
متن کاملObservation and electric current control of a local spin in a single-molecule magnet
In molecular spintronics, the spin state of a molecule may be switched on and off by changing the molecular structure. Here, we switch on and off the molecular spin of a double-decker bis(phthalocyaninato)terbium(III) complex (TbPc₂) adsorbed on an Au(111) surface by applying an electric current via a scanning tunnelling microscope. The dI/dV curve of the tunnelling current recorded onto a TbPc...

In the frame work of relativistic density functional theory, using full potential local orbital band structure scheme (FPLO), the magnetic properties of single 3d transition metals (3d-TM) adsorbed on 2D hexagonal boron nitride (2D h-BN) are investigated. Binding energies between 3d-TM adatoms and 2D h-BN in three different compositions, local spin magnetic moments of 3d-TM and total spin magne...
متن کاملGold nanoparticle assemblies stabilized by bis(phthalocyaninato)lanthanide(III) complexes through van der Waals interactions
Gold nanoparticle assemblies possess diverse application potential, ranging from industrial nanotechnology to medical biotechnology. Because the structures and properties of assemblies are directly affected by the stabilization mechanism between the organic molecules serving as protecting ligands and the gold nanoparticle surface, it is crucial to find and investigate new stabilization mechanis...
متن کاملMagnetic behaviour of TbPc2 single-molecule magnets chemically grafted on silicon surface
Single-molecule magnets (SMMs) are among the most promising molecular systems for the development of novel molecular electronics based on spin transport. Going beyond investigations focused on physisorbed SMMs, in this work the robust grafting of terbium(III) bis(phthalocyaninato) complexes to a silicon surface from a diluted solution is achieved by rational chemical design yielding the formati...
